Island House Beach Resort 4N

I’ve been to island house four times in the past 6 or 7 years but this time was our first in an apartment instead of a villa & we loved it. We’ve had to switch locations midway through, which we knew in advance, & would be willing to go to a second apartment for the remaining time if needed on future visits.

I stayed in unit 4N For 10 days in November. The views were beautiful, I absolutely loved the lanai and the staff was wonderful. The unit looked clean when we checked in, I was, however, very disappointed to find cockroaches, dead and alive so that was a big bummer. Also, after about two hours of settling in and walking around with bare feet my feet were black. I’m 100% positive that those floors have not been mopped in months. This might be why there are cockroaches?? There was no sand or crumbs or food but they were not clean. I had to wear socks in the unit the entire rest of my stay in 80° weather. Also, I noticed there was mold behind the bathroom sink and a few spots in the shower that really needs some attention before that problem gets out of hand. I slept in the second bedroom and neither bed in that room was comfortable. I felt like the mattresses were very cheap. I do love the location of Island House, and I have stayed in other units and I will definitely be back. I know there’s not much you can do as a resort with the sellers furnishings, but hopefully you can pass these comments on to the unit owner so they can make some adjustments. Again the grounds were clean and the people were so nice. Thank you

I stay in the same unit every year but since my last stay there was some damage, which I reported to management and considering it gets “cleaned” between renters I was surprised they did not know about it. There were a couple of holes in the wall like when you’re mopping and you hit the wall behind you. The light switch plate in the master bath was broken in several places. (I did not like it that someone came into our unit while we were out and fixed it. I should have been told someone would enter the unit.) The baseboard by the side door was loose and we had to tap it closed at the nailheads. We had 3 roaches during the week long stay. The floor in the main living area was filthy (our socks were black). We did not use the loveseat on the balcony because it was filthy and the wall behind it was as well. There was also a cushion on the sofa that was stained with sweat or something... we did not use it.
This is definitely a family place and we bring our kids to pass on the decades long tradition to the next generation but this year kids were out in the common area (shuffle board area) until very late yelling. Maybe there needs to be quiet time after certain hour rule?
Overall it was not as peaceful as in prior years and seemed crowded.

As usual it was a great time had by all. How could anyone not enjoy such a wonderful place. Island House is always wonderful. Can’t wait to come back next year

What a fabulous get away, what a beautiful apartment, and what a great Island House Resort & staff! 5 stars all the way around! Thank you for being so accommodating to us and we are praying for you during this storm. We hope to be back in the near future!

We have been staying at Island House for the past 9 years. Every year we enjoy ourselves more and more and can not wait to return. It's a little slice of paradise. Our unit is just gorgeous and Scott and his team are the best.

. refrigerator ice machine hasn't worked last 5x there
. vent cover behind toilet kept falling off
. killed three palmetto bugs

Other than these issues everything was terrific.We love this unit so much.

This unit was beautifully decorated. The Island House is located close to everything. The property is very well kept and the staff is super nice. Scot gave us several recommendations for places to dine at and just relax for drinks. We have already made reservations for next year and looking forward to returning next summer.
